Clara, an exceptionally gifted pianist approaching her thirties, spent part of her childhood in Germany, and then another part in Paris with her grandfather who was a composer, arranger and jazzman. After an exhilarating stretch of time split between concerts going late into the night, tours with a rock group, destructive romance and trouble resisting the wiles of drugs, she finds herself needing to get back to her roots and to find herself again.

Her encounter with GEORG, who becomes her adoptive father of sorts, provides her with the opportunity to reawaken her profound love for classical music. From then on, she studies in detail the lives of the renowned pianists and the female composers which she wants to bring back into the limelight. She shares her discoveries, the things that move her and her adventures with VALERY, GEORG and CHARLES-JOSEPH.

Through the chances to travel in time which the PUBLISHER grants her, she uses her journeys to The Sources of Europe to better understand the personal journey of Clara Schuman (1819-1896), wife of German composer Robert Schumann, and recover the traces of her European tours. She was the first person to perform the work of her husband, who died when she was only in her forties, and she would come to make his music known and loved. After Robert’s death, she threw herself headlong into concert tours in England, France, Russia… until the last twenty years of the 19th century, during which time she painstakingly created the full anthology of her husband’s works. A composer in her own right, and the mother of eight children, she spent around ten years living in Baden-Baden, where she would be joined by Johannes Brahms and where she regularly welcomed European musician and writer friends.
